ABOUT WORLDGUESSR
WorldGuessr is a geography game that places you at a random location through Street View imagery. Your goal is to determine where you are, mark the location on a map, and earn points based on the accuracy of your guess.
Created by codergautam and released in October 2024, the game offers solo challenges, competitive matches, private parties, and community maps. You can play single-player rounds without an account. Registration allows you to save statistics, achievements, progress, and ELO rating.
INVESTIGATE EACH LOCATION
Each round begins on a road, in a city, or near a remote landscape. Rotate the camera, zoom in, and follow the available roads to search for useful information.
Important clues include:
- Languages and domain names
- Road signs and lane markings
- Driving direction
- Vehicle license plates
- Architecture and building materials
- Vegetation, climate, and terrain
- Utility poles, flags, and landmarks
One clue may reveal the country, but a high score often requires identifying the correct region or city. Compare several details before choosing a location, as similar landscapes can appear in different parts of the world.
You can use a hint when a round becomes too difficult, but doing so reduces the points available.
Place Your Guess And View The Result
Open the minimap when you are ready, zoom in on the suspected area, and place a pin. Select Guess to submit your answer.
The result screen shows your chosen position, the correct location, the distance between them, and your score. Each round is worth up to 5,000 points, with more accurate guesses earning higher totals. Reviewing the result helps you understand which clues were useful and where your reasoning went wrong.
EXPLORE DIFFERENT GAME MODES
WorldGuessr provides several ways to play:
- Singleplayer: Explore official or community maps with an optional time limit.
- Ranked Duels: Compete against one opponent in a health-based match. The player with the weaker guess loses health based on the score difference.
- 2v2 Team Duels: Join a partner and compete against another team.
- Unranked Match: Enter a quick online duel without affecting your rating.
- Party: Create a private lobby and customize the map and rules.
- Daily Challenge: Guess the same three locations as other players, with 60 seconds for each round.
- Country And Continent Guesser: Identify the country or continent without selecting an exact location.
- Community Maps: Play themed maps featuring countries, cities, landmarks, stadiums, and other locations.
Private matches can include shorter timers or restrictions on movement, panning, and zooming. These settings increase the importance of quick observation and geographic knowledge.

IMPROVE YOUR ACCURACY
Start with broad clues such as climate, driving direction, terrain, and language. Once you identify a likely country, search for regional evidence such as city names, route numbers, local businesses, and distinctive road markings.
In timed modes, balance exploration with map placement. Moving farther may reveal a valuable sign, but spending too long searching can leave little time to submit an accurate guess. In duels, a reliable regional estimate is often safer than an unsupported attempt to pinpoint the exact road.
