Getting Over Snow

Getting Over Snow is a physics-based climbing game developed by Hit Games. Your character is stuck inside a pot and must use a long hammer to move across a steep, snow-covered mountain.

Each level challenges you to reach a caged animal near the end of the route. Although the game uses a simple hold-and-release control, every move requires careful judgment. You must choose the right hammer length, account for the character’s rotating position, and identify a safe landing point before committing to a swing.

HOW TO PLAY GETTING OVER SNOW

Hold the mouse button or press the screen to extend the hammer. Release when it reaches the desired length, and the character will place the hammer against the terrain before swinging around it.

The hammer’s length determines both its contact point and the distance of the resulting movement. A short extension provides better control around narrow ledges, while a longer one can clear wide gaps. However, extending too far may cause the character to pass a safe surface or collide with an obstacle.

Timing is equally important because the character continues rotating while the hammer grows. Before releasing, consider where the hammer will land and where the character will finish after the swing. A reachable surface is not always a safe choice if it leaves you without a useful position for the next move.

Avoid Mountain Hazards

The climbing routes contain red spikes, hostile birds, avalanches, and other obstacles. Many appear beside narrow platforms or valuable gems, making inaccurate swings especially costly.

Do not focus only on gaining height. Moving to a slightly lower but more stable position can create a safer angle for the next swing. Attempting to climb too quickly often places the character near spikes or leaves the hammer without a suitable contact point.

MISSIONS, GEMS, AND UNLOCKABLES

The main stages revolve around rescuing caged animals. Completing the climb and reaching the animal finishes the mission. An endless mode is also available for players who want to continue climbing and test how far they can travel.

Gems appear throughout the mountain, often away from the safest route. Collecting them allows you to unlock cosmetic character and hammer designs in the shop. Since difficult gems can lead toward dangerous terrain, you must decide whether the reward is worth risking the current run.

Controls

  • Hold the Left Mouse Button: Extend the hammer
  • Release the Left Mouse Button: Place the hammer and swing
  • Touch and Hold: Extend the hammer on mobile devices
  • Release the Screen: Perform the move

TIPS FOR A SAFER CLIMB

  • Identify a stable landing point before extending the hammer.
  • Use short swings near spikes and narrow platforms.
  • Consider the character’s final position, not only where the hammer will land.
  • Wait for a favorable angle instead of forcing a difficult move.
  • Skip risky gems when completing the mission is the safer option.
  • Plan the next swing before leaving a secure surface.
