Hexbound

LOST ON A CURSED PLANET

Hexbound is a retro first-person shooter that sends you into the ruins of a hostile alien world with one urgent objective: survive. Pixel-art enemies, heavy shadows, narrow passages, and rapid gunplay give the adventure a distinctly old-school character. Every room can hide a threat, so progress depends on quick reactions, confident movement, and smart weapon choices.

A Last Mission Beyond Earth

By 2104, humanity has reached extraordinary technological heights, but Earth’s ecosystem is nearing collapse. The Aethelgard Space Research Station responds by launching a vast exodus in search of a new sanctuary. The Prometheus Reconnaissance Fleet travels ahead of the refugees, scouting unknown worlds and clearing dangers from their path.

Then, in Stellar Cycle 251, the fleet disappears without warning.

You awaken after the Prometheus crashes on a cursed planet. The ship is wrecked, your suit signal is unstable, and hostile creatures are already closing in. Trapped beneath an unfamiliar sky, you must push through the darkness, uncover what happened to the fleet, and search for a route out.

FIGHT THROUGH FIVE HOSTILE LEVELS

Blast a Path Through the Unknown

Hexbound follows a direct and energetic combat loop. Explore enclosed corridors, watch every opening, and fire before the creatures can surround you. The first-person view keeps danger close, while the stark pixel visuals make enemy movement easy to recognize without weakening the oppressive atmosphere.

Standing still is rarely safe. Moving during a fight helps you avoid incoming attacks, control the distance between yourself and a target, and escape when several enemies enter the room. The best approach is to check corners carefully, learn the shape of each area, and keep enough space to reposition.

Four Weapons, Different Combat Needs

You can switch among four weapon slots with the number keys. This makes the arsenal part of the moment-to-moment strategy rather than a cosmetic choice. A weapon that works well in a hallway may feel less comfortable when enemies rush from several directions, so change equipment according to the room and the threat in front of you.

Avoid relying on a single option throughout an entire level. Fast switching can help you maintain pressure, respond to a sudden close-range attack, and stay in control when the pace rises.

Five Levels and More to Come

The current version of Hexbound contains five levels, with additional stages planned. Each completed area moves the lost-fleet mystery forward while giving you another hostile space to navigate. The compact level count makes the game easy to begin, but the combination of exploration and aggressive combat rewards players who return to improve their routes and reactions.

FIELD TACTICS FOR STAYING ALIVE

  • Keep moving in combat. A mobile target is harder to trap, especially in narrow rooms.
  • Scan before entering. Check doorways and corners so an ambush does not cut off your retreat.
  • Use the room’s shape. Walls and passages can help limit the directions enemies approach from.
  • Switch weapons with purpose. Match your current weapon to the available space and enemy pressure.
  • Remember the route. Recognizing connected corridors makes it easier to retreat without becoming lost.
