Catch a wave in Microsoft Edge Surf, dodge the kraken, collect boosts, and see how far you can ride across the ocean in this fun browser game.

Overview

Microsoft Edge Surf is a built-in browser game developed by Microsoft and included with the Microsoft Edge browser. It appears when your internet connection is lost, giving users a simple and entertaining way to pass the time while waiting to reconnect.

Inspired by the classic Windows game SkiFree, Edge Surf puts players on a surfboard gliding across an endless ocean. Along the journey, you must avoid obstacles such as rocks, islands, and even a giant kraken chasing from behind.

Riding the Waves

In Edge Surf, your mission is to travel as far as possible while avoiding hazards in the water. As the run continues, the ocean gradually fills with more obstacles, requiring quick reflexes and careful movement.

While surfing, you can collect useful items such as hearts to restore lives and speed boosts that temporarily increase your surfing speed. However, crashing into rocks, trees, or other surfers will cost you one heart. Losing all hearts ends the game.

The game includes three different modes:

  • Endless Mode – Surf as far as possible while avoiding obstacles and escaping the kraken.
  • Time Trial Mode – Complete a fixed course as quickly as possible.
  • Zigzag Mode – Pass through as many gates as you can without missing them.

Each mode offers a different style of challenge, making the gameplay more varied and engaging.

Controls

  • Start the game: Press the Spacebar or click with the mouse
  • Move left/right: Use the Left and Right Arrow keys
  • Other options: The game also supports touch controls and gamepads

Quick Surfing Tips

  • Collect hearts whenever possible to extend your run.
  • Use speed boosts carefully so you do not crash into obstacles.
  • Practice different modes to improve your timing and control.
